Nursery Inspiration

Let's talk a little nursery planning here! Since we aren't finding out the gender, we wanted to go with something that was neutral enough, and that we could just add a few pops of gender specific color, or gender specific items later on, and be all set. I love grey, and am not super themey as it is. So I would have never chosen an all baseball nursery, or an all pink nursery. I like how many different pieces with different themes and feels can come together and compliment a room nicely. Therefore, this first picture is really an ideal of what we want our nursery to look like! I love the grey and white!

I'm really trying to get this whole house organized and simplified! I love how simple and uncluttered this below room is! It looks so crisp and serene. I can totally picture rocking a sweet little babe in that chair.

Oh how I am obsessed with white furniture! But with a black lab, and a house full of dog hair, that will never work. Secretly wishing there was a pill I could give Mack to make him stop shedding! This room is gorgeous and so simple. I love the wooden pops.

This calm and quiet nook is so cute. I love the little baskets and the pouf. I would prefer a glider or rocker though.

This kind of has the feel of what we are working on creating as well! Minus the white chair/ottoman. I am obsessed with the pops of teal. I think teal works for both boys and girls. And will compliment pink or navy quite nicely!

I am really obsessed with this gallery wall. I love the different frames and pops of color. I can totally picture this in a play room.... now if only we had an addition in the works. One day!

19 Weeks

How far along: 19 weeks(June 30-July 6)
Gender: It's a Baby!
Weight gain: 8+ lbs.
Maternity clothes: My zipper on my jeans no longer stays up with the hair tie trick. I must invest in maternity jeans, ASAP!
Sleep: Pretty good this week.
Best moment this week: Enjoying the 4th of July weekend, and watching some fireworks.
Worst moment this week: Running out of clothes to wear.
Miss anything: A drink or two on the 4th.
Movement: Yes, mostly around certain times. About 9-10 am I feel tons of kicks, then again around 3pm, 7pm, and then about 9-10pm. Baby is already getting into a routine?
Symptoms: Feeling a ton of stretching in my stomach. It's kind of uncomfortable, like you just ate the biggest meal and your stomach is so full. It feels like of like that, and then some. Everything just stretching out!
Cravings: Chocolate chip cookies.
Looking forward to: Our anatomy ultrasound on the 7th! Our halfway mark, and finally picking out a glider for the nursery! We were so undecided, but have narrowed it down a bit.

18 weeks

How far along: 18 weeks(June 23-29)
Gender: It's a Baby!
Weight gain: 8+ lbs.
Maternity clothes: Clothes are really starting to fit differently now. My favorite white cami's are starting to roll up a bit. The hair tie trick is still scraping by, but I'm going to have to eye a pair of maternity jeans or two to wear to work. I've been rotating in some maxi skirts which are super comfortable so that's a plus!
Sleep: Still good, but tossing and turning a bit.
Best moment this week: Our best friends engagement party! It was such a beautiful party and tons of good food!
Worst moment this week: Experienced my first night of insomnia. It wasn't the entire night, but I was up for a few hours one night and just couldn't fall back asleep.
Miss anything: Stomach and back sleeping.
Movement: Yep! Tons of pops. Feels like popcorn popping.
Symptoms: Feeling pretty tired. I thought I was supposed to get more energy during the second trimester.. not so much.
Cravings: Blueberry waffles this week.
Looking forward to: 4th of July festivities coming up.

17 Weeks

How far along: 17 weeks(June 16-22)
Gender: It's a Baby!
Weight gain: 7 lbs at my last drs apt on the 16th.
Maternity clothes: Picked up a few things from Motherhood Maternity over the weekend. Maternity underwear, who heard of such a thing, and that you would need such a thing!
Sleep: A little tossing and turning, this whole sleeping on the side thing is not my favorite. Doing my best to stay off my back, but keep finding myself there.
Best moment this week: I went through all of our clothes in our house. The winter stuff, the summer stuff, the work stuff, all of it. And I'm getting rid of almost a full sized bed full of piles of old clothes, if that makes sense. I've held onto so many things for so long thinking "oh I'll wear this one day." and I never do. So, it was finally the perfect time to purge all of that stuff. The winter stuff is now up in the attic and I have officially moved over into the master closet.
Worst moment this week: Wayne hasn't been to the gym in a few weeks due to his back, and when he went Friday morning, his gym bag, and keys were stolen. So frustrating. Luckily I had taken the day off of work for some "me" time. We had to do a bunch of running around for new keys, new locks, and new work shoes! ugh.
Miss anything: Sleeping on my stomach. I still kind of can, but am trying not to.
Movement: Yes, still feeling more taps and pops!
Cravings: A hot fudge sundae.
Symptoms: Not much this week.
Looking forward to: Getting some more progress going in the nursery.

16 Weeks

How far along: 16 weeks(June 9-15)
Gender: It's a Baby!
Weight gain: About 6 lbs?
Maternity clothes: Still wearing just the bras.
Sleep: Still going good.
Best moment this week: We registered! It almost started out bad. We arrived at Buy Buy Baby, got our handy dandy little scanner, went right back to the furniture section to just browse what they had, and the fire alarm goes off. So we handed in our scanner and went outside. We sat on a bench and waited for a little bit. Thankfully the alarm stopped and went back inside to keep on registering!
Worst moment this week: From what I can remember, nothing really.
Miss anything: An iced cold beer, more like the Coors Light Summer Brew.
Movement: YES! I was eating a peanut butter cup on Thursday night (the 11th), and a minute or two after I had finished it, I felt a wave go across my lower tummy. I put my hand on my stomach and felt what I can describe as a few taps! So crazy!
Cravings: Chocolate and salad. What a good mix. haha.
Looking forward to: Wayne's first fathers day weekend.

15 Weeks

How far along: 15 weeks (June 2-8)
Gender: It's a Baby!
Weight gain: Probably 6 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Purchased a few things to wear in the future. There was a good sale at GAP and Old Navy.
Sleep: Still going good.
Best moment this week: Our friends wedding.. It was a great night that included some hilarious dance moves and some late night mac and cheese.
Worst moment this week: In the begining of the week Wayne threw out his back at the gym. I had to help the poor guy from his work van into the house and all about. After a trip to the doctors, some rest, and some pain meds he was on the mend.
Miss anything: A turkey sandwich!
Movement: Nothing yet.
Cravings: I do not like gravy. Normally. The only way I really do like it is hot roast beef sandwiches swimming in gravy on a hard roll. Like for Thanksgiving I don't use gravy on anything. Gross. Anyways, I had some mashed potatoes and gravy at our friends wedding and it was literally mouth watering! I did think about it a few days after... and now I want mashed potatoes!
Looking forward to: Possibly registering next weekend.

14 Weeks

How far along: 14 weeks
Gender: It's a Baby!
Weight gain: About 5 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Just a few maternity bras. Using the old hair tie trick on my jeans. Everything still fits, just starting to feel super thick through my midsection.
Sleep: Pretty good so far. Not really waking up to pee in the middle of the night. I have a few times, but I usually can make it to 5:30 am or so. Not looking forward to the times when I'll be up every few hours.
Best moment this week: We took our "social media announcement" photo with some cute little converse sneakers and Mack! Was pretty hilarious. We tried to keep the shoes in Mack's mouth and get him sitting, but he couldn't get over the laces and would push his tongue out everytime we tried to put them in his mouth. He then proceeded to shake the sneakers and toss them. We ended up with two sopping went shoes, and a picture of him on the ground with the shoes in front of him. Poor Wayne was convinced that we could get him to hold them him his mouth.. we all know who won that bet.
Worst moment this week: Overall was a good week!
Miss anything: Now that the weather is getting warmer, a nice full glass of Pinot Grigio would be amazing.
Movement: Not yet.
Cravings: Pizza. We made some grilled pizza over the weekend and it turned out pretty good.
Symptoms: Experiencing a bit of hip pain, but other than that.. pretty good.
Looking forward to: Our friends wedding next weekend.

First Trimester Recap

Here is the first bump photo taken at 8 weeks!

All in all, I have really been lucky to have experienced no morning sickness. I did have a few times where I felt a spec unsettled, so I'd much on crackers and then I'd quickly feel better. I was a little tired, but nothing super noticable to me. First trimester brought a total weight gain of about 5 lbs. All my normal clothes, aside from bras still fit. I did have to purchase a few maternity bras. I found my first trimester to be quick and simple, which I'm grateful for!

I purchased a smaller maternity pillow that just supported the semi non-existant bump. I normally flip and turn all over for sleeping, so learning to sleep on my left side is going to be very difficult!

I'll be back with some more updates from the recent weeks.
