Snow Day

We finally had our first snow storm this past weekend. So naturally, we had to bundle up Miss Riley and get her outside to experience snow for the first time! We got about 12 inches. Riley and I stayed cuddled up on the couch while Wayne went out plowing. It was a great weekend to be holed up inside.

I hear it's supposed to be in the 50's next week tho! What happened to winter this year?! Time to start shopping for baby bathing suits!! instert hearteyes emoji here.

Six Weeks of Sweet Riley

Now that life has finally settled down a bit, and we are finding ourselves in a nice little routine, I figured it was time to post an update.

So what does life look like lately?

Riley is an excellent sleeper so far, (knocking on all the wood). She is mostly sleeping in a 5 hour stretch followed by a 3-4 hour stretch during the night. So I'm feeling pretty well rested. During the day she is nursing every three hours for about 15-20 minutes, and is awake for an additional 30ish minutes after a feeding, followed by a typical two hour nap. She prefers sleeping on her back. We had her in the family bassinet for a few weeks, in the rock and play on and off for a week or two, and then we just jumped and moved her over to her crib at 5 weeks. She's been doing great so far! We're all getting good sleep as her grunts and noises don't really wake us as easily and they were. She sure is noisy as she sleeps.

At her one month check up, Riley was 10lbs 13.5oz, and 23.25 inches long! Baby girl is sadly all out of newborn clothes, and slowly growing through size 0-3. She fits best in size 3M for length, but everywhere else is a bit baggy on her.

Breastfeeding is going great. The begining was a wreck, I'll explain more of that later, but once we got through the first week, we got the hang of it and haven't looked back. I'm going to start pumping this week so I can slowly build up a stash. And I'd like to get her on a bottle once a day or every other day to make sure she will take one.

She is now giving smiles and has started cooing! Melt my heart. Just when I don't think I could love her any more, my heart bursts. Becoming a mother is with out a doubt the best thing in life.

And now, it's time for a photo dump.

40 Weeks

How far along: 40 weeks, our Due Date has arrived! 11/24/15
Gender Prediction: Girl
Weight gain: Pass!
Maternity clothes: of course.
Sleep: Pretty terrible this week. I've been sleeping from about 10-12, and then again from about 5-9am.
Best moment this week: We wanted to be able to bring our new bundle to the tree farm to pick out our Christmas tree, but seeing my due date come and go,we decided to go and get our tree after Thanksgiving. We walked the hills of the tree farm hoping it would send me into labor.. not so much..
Miss anything: Sleep!!
Movement: Baby is still moving those limbs all over the place!
Symptoms: Itching and not being able to sleep.
Cravings: Sweets for sure.
Looking forward to: Meeting this baby, finally!! Where are you?!

39 Weeks

How far along: 39 weeks (November 17-November 23)
Gender Prediction: Girl
Weight gain: Pass!
Maternity clothes: Let's just say my options are getting VERY limited.
Sleep: Still not all that great.
Best moment this week: Ending work and starting maternity leave! No baby yet, although it would have been nice to start Maternity leave and have the bambino already.. I'm so ready!
Miss anything: Easy lunch options... I'd kill for a deli sandwich right about now. I normally am fine with out one, but how easy is it to make a quick sandwich with chicken, cheese, and mayo.... or a turkey club... yum.
Movement: Yes, tons.
Symptoms: The main thing still bothering me is just the itchy skin. It's starting to spread though..
Cravings: Kind of indecisive this week. I'm hungry, but not particularly in the mood for something specific..
Looking forward to: Our due date!! Thanksgiving, hopefully being able to do some Black Friday or Cyber Monday shopping and knowing baby's gender?!
